Delhi University professor spreads Hate against Muslims on National Television | Sangit Kumar Ragi spreads Hate against Muslims on ABP News

Sangit Kumar Ragi is a Senior Professor in the Department of Political Science at Delhi University.

His academic career at the University of Delhi spans over two and a half decades, beginning as an Assistant Professor at Maharaja Agrasen College in 1995. He was later promoted to Associate Professor (2009–2014) and then to Professor (2014–Present) in the university's main department. He has also held key administrative positions, including serving as the Head of the Department of Political Science from 2021 to 2024. His scholarly work focuses primarily on areas such as ethnic conflicts, nationalism, demographic changes, Indian political thought, and public administration.

Beyond academia, Professor Ragi is widely known as a political commentator and analyst. He frequently appears on Indian television news channels and contributes articles to various print and online news portals. He also contributes to government projects, notably serving as a member of the 'Content Review Committee' for the 'Prime Ministers Museum.'

Due to his supposed "political knowledge," he is invited to many TV news channel debates to share his "extensive knowledge" with the viewers of New India. Prime-time debates with celebrity anchors often include polarizing issues to capitalize on hate-mongering in the name of "debate." The relevance of the TV debate in Indian media has been largely lost in the last decade or so.

In one such instance, the infamous Sangit Kumar Ragi was invited to an ABP News show named "Mahadangal," which literally translates to "Mega-Battle"—an iconic name for a TV debate show watched by viewers of the world's largest democracy.

On September 22, 2025, ABP News ran another one of these hate-mongering shows, "Mahadangal," and the topic of discussion was as predictable as it gets. During Navaratri, the perfect time was chosen to discuss whether meat and non-vegetarian shops should remain open or not. Many panelists and experts were invited to discuss this issue, including Sangit Kumar Ragi.

In this broadcast TV show, Sangit Kumar Ragi showed his true ideology. The debate was about the "sale of non-vegetarian food during Navaratri" and as always, this type of topic will quickly turn communal, especially considering the panel included a figure like Sangit Kumar Ragi.

Below you can find the clip of the statement made by Sangit Kumar Ragi on the ABP News TV Debate Show "Mahadangal" on September 22, 2025.

Here's the full transcript of the statement made by Sangit Kumar Ragi from the clip:

In Hindi;

In English;
See, my personal belief is that Muslims should not get equal rights in this country. This country belongs to the Hindus, where Muslims live, you should absolutely give them civil rights, but in the cultural space of this country, they should not get the right to equality.

Muslims have already got one country. Absolutely not. I say Muslim... My, my my wish is. I express my feeling of discontent that Muslims have already got a new country. Those Muslims who have betrayed the country, those traitors should not be given equal rights.
In the above statement, Sangit Kumar Ragi claimed Muslims got their own nation (he was talking about Pakistan) and Indian Muslims should have no place in the cultural space of India. In the next line, he claimed all Muslims as traitors. Even though he's a Political Science Professor in DU, he doesn't know that Muslims who supported the creation of Pakistan left India and settled in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Muslims who stayed in India wanted to be a part of India as Indians. They rejected Pakistan and its ideology, but Sangit Kumar Ragi is too communal to understand this simple fact.

Sangit Kumar Ragi made this statement on September 22, 2025, and you might think he would not be invited to this debate show again. However, you are very wrong because, even in the clip, you can see that anchor Chitra Tripathi doesn't even try to stop, let alone correct, his outrageous, hateful comments against the Muslim community in India. Again, Sangit Kumar Ragi was invited to this same show just a few days later, on October 2, 2025.

In conclusion, I will say this so-called Professor is teaching students at Delhi University, a university run by taxpayers' money. He's getting his salary from our tax money and he's responsible for teaching the younger generation about politics. With these hateful views, I doubt the future of those students is bright. Let's hope they will see through his communal hatred and grow up to be true patriots of this great nation, which teaches love and harmony as our strength.
